Talent Show

I don't remember what grade it was when a few friends and I tried out for the talent show at Crowell Elementary School. We had matching outfits and practiced our back sides off at Sarah's house it was to a Paula Abdul song I think and we didn't make it. But every year that Lilie does the talent show I remember us dancing together. Ahh the memories we make that come back when our kids do the same thing.
We waited for 2hrs and 3 grades to see Lilie and her friend hop on stage.

I took two movies but they are to big for the blog but they are on facebook.

Ava's are we done yet look.
We are next!
Can you see the two girls?

So many kids this is just one section.

School 8th Birthday

This is the second year we have taken 7 dozen dough nut holes and milk to school to celebrate Lilie's birthday. This is the first year we had one little boy who didn't know what a dough nut hole was. He was very cute. Lilie had fun so did Ava. Ahh Lilie is going to be 8 in 6 days and a 3rd grader in 5 days. Boy time flies!

Pillowcase dresses

I am having so much fun making the girls "pillowcase dresses". I wish I could find some old pillowcases with pretty crochet or embroidery on them that don't cost $25 plus. Keep your eyes out for me!
This one isn't a pillowcase just fabric I love.
Ava is going to have a coordinating one in a day or two. These are Target pillow cases:)

Lilie needs some leggings.
It's not a dress but here is my friends daughter Hazel in her cool new car seat cover I made her and her matching blanket she loves!

Bunco

I hosted our monthly bunco group on Thursday night. My theme, Dips, Drink and Dice. After getting tables set up and trying to get Ava dressed so she could go with Josh and Lilie to dinner this is where I found her.

Must have been a lucky spot I started here and won most wins:) thanks naked butt!
Here is the list of dips I made that were a big hit! I realised after everything was gone I never got a photo of the food:(

Sweet ~ Serve with apple slices, pear slices, gingersnap cookies, or graham cracker sticks.
Savory ~ Serve with mini pitta chips and sour dough bread slices.

Lemon Cheesecake Cheese Ball

Ingredients:
10 oz. cream cheese
2½ tbsp. sugar
Zest of 1 large lemon
4 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 graham crackers
Directions:
Combine the cream cheese and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir together with a spoon or spatula until well combined and smooth. Mix in the lemon zest and lemon juice until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a piece of plastic wrap and shape into a ball, wrapped tightly. Refrigerate until firm, at least 3 hours. Reshape if necessary once firm.
Coarsely crush the graham crackers and transfer the crumbs to a plate or bowl. Roll the cheese ball in the crumbs until evenly coated. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Toffee Dip with Apples

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
8 oz cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup toffee pieces (Skor, Heath, etc)

Combine first four ingredients in bowl with mixer until smooth. Stir in toffee bits and mix well. Cover and chill

Clam Dip
8 oz. softened cream cheese
1 can drained clams
a few green onions chopped up fine
a little Worcestershire sauce

Cream together then beat an egg white until stiff and fold into the cream cheese mixture. You can use it as a dip or spread it on little pieces of french bread and broil it until golden brown

~Drinks~
A few of the gals went on a trip to Hawaii and came back with a love of POG (Pineapple Orange Guava) and Malibu. And I thank them and hate them for this drink. It is soo good!

I mixed up two of these and was left with only 1/4 of a bottle mind you this is without Malibu. The Malibu was pretty light too:) Wine and water were also an option and beer thanks to Neighbor Amanda:)

Hair week

Our neighbors cousin is going to cosmetology school and need a certain number of hours of practice. For $10 Lilie needed a trim. Lilie said "mom if she can do an "A" line cut I want to do that if not just a trim will be fine". I was soo excited to hear that. I LOVE Lilie in an "A" line cut. Guess what? Lanie's amazing at this cute cut, and Lilie has a lot of hair that makes it easy to mess up on her head. I am slightly jealous of Lilie's hair.

I had a Brazilian Blowout done to my hair. No flat ironing for 12 weeks!!

We are wash and go girls now, okay a little mousse for Lilies but that's it!

One of those things

These fish/sea horses are one of the many things that I remember from my grandparents house. You know that thing that is suddenly gone when you go to visit because hey times change, we all change the things that hang on the wall from time to time. But it's just that thing that "is" Grandma & Grandpa Coopers House. When we went for Christmas I noticed that the sea horses weren't hanging in the guest bathroom. My grandparents decided it was time to take them down and get rid of them. Thankfully my Aunt Carolyn saved them and was kind enough to pass them down to me. She dropped them off with my mom who brought them over this past week when she came to watch Ava. Once the day was done and my mom was heading home I went to work hanging them in my bathroom. I noticed the back of them had my grandmothers initials on the back and the year she painted them, 1980 the year I was born. There are a mom, dad and three kids, one for each of their children. For some odd reason I love these things. I wonder what my kids will cherish from my parents homes?

Now where am I going to hang those big utensils they have hanging in the kitchen?

4 Families Dinner

It was our turn to host the four family dinner. Adults ate outside, kids inside with the windows open:) Not all the kids were inside, the highchair aged ones were outside with us. One of the fun parts (of many) of our dinners is that everyone brings something. We made barrel chicken, biscuits and asparagus. The remaining items were brought by the families, appetizers, salad and dessert. It is such a great idea we all get to try new and yummy things. The adults get to hang out together and the kids get to play, there are 9 kids, 8 girls 1 boy from 8 years to 2 years old.

Socks

Some of you might know Ava has a "shoe thing". She LOVES shoes! She love picking them out and will ware 2-3 different pairs a day. She also loves to take them off as soon as she gets in the car. Shoes go on the floor and socks go on her hands. She makes them into puppets and thinks it is so funny to say "hi Mom" and wave with a sock hand.
