Good news & bad news & good news

Yahoo, Lilie and two of her friends have been selected for the semi-finals for the Spring Grove Oral interpretation/Speech Festival from her class. On Wednesday she has the second round in the board room. They will choose three winners from all the first grade classes. I am proud she did so well, especially being sick while doing her poem.

Booo, Lilie and Ava went to the doc yesterday. Lilie has a cold, no infection, whoo hoo. Ava has an ear infection, her first one. Lilie told Ava she was luck she got the good tasting medicine.

Yahoo, the puppies made it from 9-5:30 with out needing a potty break. I am still haning in and not getting sick. Wish me luck on that!

Killing Time

The kids decided to get some sun while they were all awake at the same time.
Dusty is keeping an eye Sumo and Miko while out for a run and potty break.
Putting the saved plastic bags to use. This thing was full before the puppies came home. Tug-a-war movie
It was suggested to us (by Barley's dad, Jeff) because of the rapid growth to take photos and movies of the pups while they are still "small".

ick, standing and puppies

Josh is sick, Lilie is sick and now I think Ava is coming down with it! Three sick-o's and 2 new puppies, help me!!!

And to top it off Ava has decided that it isn't enough to crawl around. She has found out that she can pull herself up on other things besides her crib, like toys and coffee tables. She has even started taking a couple steps around the table then seeing what happens if she lets go. Her main target is the the TV remote of all things. Good thing the diapers supply padding!
Check out the video of Josh helping with the whole standing thing.
The puppies had a check up today, they are 7 weeks old.
We go back in 3 weeks. They are in good health and were a hit at their check-up. The office staff agreed they will be the size of calfs when fully grow.
Sumo weighs in at12lbs
Miko weighs in at 11.5lbs

Dog house help

Hey all I need some help. Josh and I are thinking that a "calf hutch" is a good way to go for a dog house. I am wondering if we can find a used one. Check out here what they look like. Let me know if you can help.

The big day

Five minutes before the alarm could go off at 5:45 Lilie was up exclaiming that the alarm didn't go off like it was set to. I explained that she was up before it had a chance. Josh being sick took Uncle Dan up on the offer to co-drive all the way to Fallon, NV. the half way meeting point to pick up Sumo and Miko. The drive (one way) is estimated at 6 hours, but that is with out a 6.5 year old girl in the car. Ava and I said good bye to the car load at 6:10 am and off they went. Lilie took her disposable camera to take pictures can't wait to develop those! I will try and get photos of them coming home posted tonight. If I am lucky Josh will take a photo with his phone and send it to me.

New faces at work

Right after Christmas Debbie brought home a few new chickens. These two are my favorite, their names are Lucy & Ethel. I think they are part chicken part owl. They are so cute!
They came with this black and white one
The Red has been here a while as has the rooster
I affectionately call them The Chicken Nuggets
Nicky was jealous that they were getting their picture taken and wanted on too.

On the move already!

Ava is now on the move! Lilie and I went to pick up dinner Sunday night and came home to a baby who is crawling. She took her first two movements forward with daddy. It is only fair since he has been working with her. By Monday she had figured out how to spread her toys out. If she throws the ones that have stuff in them the toys come out. She moves the best in the nude.
Check out the baby in motion.
Baby on the move movie
If that isn't enough she is now holding her sippy by her self.
This is all happening to fast she is only six months and three weeks old!

The North Wind doth Blow Rhyme

At Lilies school the first graders must recite a poem. Lilie has chosen to do the poem my mother did when she was in first grade. I will get a video of her on here soon.

The North wind doth blow poem
The North wind doth blow
and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing,
poor thing.

History

The Robin' or 'The North Wind doth blow'? This nursery rhyme is referred to as either the North Wind doth blow or The Robin. 'The North Wind doth blow' is British in its origins and believed to have originated in the 16th century history. 'The North Wind doth blow' uses the olde English word 'doth'. The purpose of the words to 'The North Wind doth blow' is to ensure that a child associates security with home whilst empathising with the plight of the robin. This therefore accounts for the confusion as to whether the poem should be called 'The North Wind doth blow' or the Robin.

No sooner than

Josh and I have been saying we should probably lower Ava's bed, she is getting better at rolling over into a sit next will be pull herself up. Saturday morning we get Ava's crib lowered to the next depth and she has herself pulled up. No kidding I put her in while I was putting the tools back in their holder and I turned around and found this! Please note the joy she finds in being able to do this.
Thank you neighbor Wendy for the chew guards

Lilie had sparing practice before standard class last night. She was so scared but jumped right in and did pretty good. The little girl she was practicing with is the owners daughter it was her first class also. They were so cute!
Ava got in on it too.

Little quake

The past two mornings we have had little earth quakes (3.+) I like to check here for info on earth quakes. It's handy and faster than the news:-)

Dress up

Lilie likes to dress up her sister, what is sad is that Ava doesn't care what Lilie does to her. She is only 6 months and she looks up to her big sister.
But eating does not get in the way of fun!

Ava's big day, Lilie picked the color
